Please note that the below instructions assume you have already obtained a copy of Windows 7, "burned" the file to a DVD, and obtained a valid Windows 7 product key
- Insert the Windows 7 Professional DVD into your DVD drive or the USB drive containing the windows file and restart your computer.
- Look for this instruction, "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD".
- Press the space key/button.
- The following information will display, "Windows is loading files".
- On the "Install windows" follow any instructions that re displayed and press "Next".
- Click on "Install now button".
- The following information will be displayed "Setup is starting".
- Microsoft software licence terms will be displayed, click on the "I accept the terms button" then proceed to "Next".
- A message prompting you on which type of installation you want will be displayed, click on "Custom (enhanced)" option.
- Selection of where you want to install windows will appear, select the partition that best suits you and proceed.
- The following information will be displayed "Windows is installing".
- After a series of checks it will restart and a window will appear asking for you to set up a user name then proceed, please do not interrupt the computer while restarting.
- The "set your password" phase is next where you can choose a password or skip if you do not wish to set up the password then.
- Once windows 7 setup is complete, you may be asked to activate, connect your PC to the internet and follow the On Screen steps
As of January 14, 2020, Microsoft officially stopped supporting the operating system, which means no more automatic (or requested) downloading and installation of updates and fixes, and no patching of new vulnerabilities.
